If Barbiecore Pink Isn’t for You

Thanks to the Margot Robbie-led Barbie movie and its record-breaking box office numbers, hot pink is having a major moment in both fashion and home design. Barbiecore as the internet has dubbed it, is all the rage with its pretty-in-pink aesthetic. And let’s not forget that this year Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year was Raspberry Blush and Pantone’s Viva Magenta. It’s cheerful, playful, and has an extra dose of glam. There are no rules with Barbiecore, and the general idea is that its time to let your personality shine. With that in mind, we wanted to take what we love about this trend and make it fit the Studio McGee aesthetic because if you follow us you know that hot pink isn’t really our thing. Like the movie’s Stereotypical Barbie, we’re calling it Sophisticated Barbie, all the pink vibes with a side of sophistication. "I love a good viral design moment that moves some to make a dramatic change in what they surround themselves by in their home. I'm not sure hot pink will ever be in my design arsenal but I can appreciate what it signifies. In color theory, pink relates to playfulness, nostalgia, and a sense of innocence. Pink is such a fun color to play with and I'm jumping on the Barbiecore bandwagon, just in a more muted way."
